Biography

Jasmine Pickel is a Canadian political commentator based out of Toronto. She received an honours bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Ottawa, and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.

From growing up on a small farm in southwestern Ontario to running a successful marketing agency downtown Toronto, Jasmine has witnesses firsthand how poor government policy can impact Canadians in both rural and urban areas.

When it comes to the size of government and taxation in Canada, Jasmine believes the less, the better. Taxation is already the single largest household expense for the average Canadian family, and profligate politicians are quick to claim they need more money before demonstrating they’ve managed existing funds competently.

Currently, Jasmine is the Interim Ontario Director at the Canadian Taxpayers Federation. Before joining the CTF, Jasmine ran a Toronto-based marketing agency which she sold in a successful acquisition deal with a PR firm from New York.
